Who Serve
What is the main motivation for people who serve in the military?
Do people sign up because of love for your country/to protect your loved ones/ to learn new skills and travel the world or do some people just see it as a job.
I grew up as a military brat my whole life. The military was the only lifestyle that I knew and I liked it. So, once I graduated, I joined too. For some of us, it's just in our blood. There's no other lifestyle we'd rather live. If they'd let me, I'd still be in.
I love the pride, esprit, history, tradition, "Duty, Honor, Country", and such. I miss the discipline, food, structure, training, travel, and such too. I was born in an Army hospital, nearly died in one several times, and plan to ultimately die in one some day. I'll travel to the veteran's cemetery beneath my flag and spend forever-after under a genuine, US issue, grave marker.
The motivation for some people is as simple as the fact that some of us are GI all the way down to our olive drab drawers. Nope, not driven by money, security, benefits, or even patriotism. I'm a soldier by nature and the military is about the only place that hires them.
